Green does not automatically mean dog-friendly

A park or forest edge may look suitable, but context matters a lot for dogs. Are there cyclists, open water, cattle grids, busy roads or many playing children?

A dog-friendly spot should describe not only the location, but also the situation. Calm sniffing needs something different from free running.

Make rules clear

Off-leash rules differ by municipality, season and area. Add what signs say and be careful with assumptions.

If a place is only off-leash during certain months, that belongs clearly in the description. It prevents frustration and fines.

What other owners want to know

Mention shade, water, bins, benches, fencing and usual crowd level. Information about mud, ticks or narrow paths can also help.

Good details make it easier to choose a walk that fits the dog, owner and surroundings.
